SafePac delivering food using McAMS Yamaha truck

While the McAMS Yamaha YZF-R1 race bikes are tucked up in the garage during the coronavirus pandemic, our Volvo Trucks UK FH 460 unit is being put to good use by our logistics partner SafePac.

Usually, the truck would pull our race trailer with everything we need for a race weekend from race track to race track, but while we aren’t racing SafePac have put the unit, plus McAMS Yamaha truckie Troy Ashley, on the road to assist their haulage effort.

Truckies are among the essential workers out there continuing to keep Britain moving while we’re in lockdown. Despite panic-buying madness and a global pandemic, you might have noticed the supermarkets haven’t ran out of food – and that’s because of firms like SafePac collecting it from ports and transporting it to supermarket warehouses.

The efforts go beyond supermarket deliveries too; the other week, Troy was sent on an emergency trip to Belgium to deliver spray equipment to farmers harvesting apples.

Since returning from our Spanish testing trip in mid-March, Troy has only been back to his house once in between his work delivering machinery and food containers.

Team Principal

We are obviously gutted not to be racing at the minute, but we are incredibly proud that our partner SafePac can put the McAMS Yamaha truck unit to good use during these difficult times. Troy is no stranger to transporting valuable equipment having driven our YZF-R1 superbikes to Spain and back, but now he’s delivering the food that’s keeping us all going in what must be one of the best-looking trucks on the road!

We want to take this opportunity to say thanks to Troy and the rest of the SafePac crew for their work during this time alongside the rest of the UK’s key workers.
