Danny Kent

Danny Kent is a British Motorcycle racer from Chippenham, a market town in north-west Wiltshire best known for his success in the 2015 Moto3 World Championship where he became the first British World Champion since Barry Sheene in 1977.

Starting his career on minimotos, Kent showed promise from a young age, working through various UK Championships before being selected for the Red Bull MotoGP Academy which saw him compete in the Red Bull Rookies Cup in 2009 and 2010. A brace of strong seasons saw him pick up a multitude of podiums and race wins along the way, and narrowly missed out on the 2010 title to now-fellow Yamaha rider Jake Gagne. This earned Kent a place in the final-ever 125cc World Championship in 2011 with the Red Bull Ajo Motorsport team. Kent continued to develop, showing his talent which would eventually lead to a switch to the Leopard Honda team for 2015, following a short stint in Moto2. This saw the Englishman go on to become Britain’s first World Champion since Barry Sheene 38 years prior, winning six races and taking nine podiums.

After another step up to Moto2 didn’t quite work out, the Britain would return to racing in the UK, first riding in the National Superstock Championship and then progressing to British Superbikes with the Buildbase Suzuki team and then his own, private Honda team in 2023. Signs of promise shone through once again as he secured podium finishes at Brands Hatch, but sadly his season would end early.

After a tricky period, Kent returned to Britain riding for the Buildbase Suzuki delivered by Hawk Racing team in the British Superbike Championship before going on to run his own Honda in 2023. Signs of promise shone through once again as he secured podium finishes at Brands Hatch. Sadly, his season was cut short after a significant crash at Thruxton.

For 2024, Kent joins the new-look McAMS Racing by Mar-Train team, intending to capitalise on the strengths of the R1, which has been one of the most dominant bikes in recent seasons of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
